Have we not figured a way to NOT make every backup camera look like a black ass snaggle tooth?

Since 2004 Honda/Acura has secretly been doing a brand loyalty study with all of its consumers. They are making their cars progressively worse and also uglier with each redesign in order to see who will continue to buy it solely for the badge.
As soon as the last prior-to-04 owner stops buying Honda they’ll go back to making fun cars with clean designs because the study will finally confirm for them just how far they can push a Honda-loyalist before they say enough.

The last Acura I genuinely liked was the 2004-2008 TL. My sister has a 2016 Civic and it’s not a bad car at all for what it is though

I don’t mind the vestigal not-taillight extensions that try to look like boomerangs as much as I mind the piece of chrome trim behind the rear quarter window floating over nothing. At least on the Civic there’s corresponding black trim below it. I don’t love that look either but I tried to do it on the Accord and I think it bothers me less.

Right, but that design happened prior to 04, and I agree that was peak Acura aesthetic IMO.

VW and Hyundai:

That is A LOT better! You should get with an aftermarket company to make a kit for that.
Now if you could fix that odd chrome strip finish trailing off the quarter window and make it cleanly wrap around the window instead, I may say these subtle changes make it look a lot nicer.

My family has owned three generations of Accords - a ‘97 EX, an ‘02 SE, and an ‘07 EX. Other than the drivetrains (the K24/5 speed auto in the ‘07 was superb), they’ve become progressively worse and uglier. If Honda still made cars like the ‘97, or even the not-bad ‘02, I’d be driving one. Instead I bought a Ford, as did my father. My sister drives a VW Beetle (because 20-something female - what else would she drive?) and my mother drives a Camry.
You blew it Honda. That was at least two easy sales you lost.
*Edit - though the closer I look, the less mediocre this looks than the last two generations of Accord. It’s ugly, yes, but the drivetrains seem better than ever. What are the odds its not another mediocre bland mobile?

Thamls! Someone else did that in the comments

Right, meaning the design was from pre-04. The next design was after 2004.

I think you meant to say Lexus, but you’re not far off with Honda.
